| If you are thinking about adding a vizsla to your family, please consider adopting a vizsla from rescue. Many fine vizslas end up in rescue because their owners were not able to handle their high energy combined with a "velcro dog" need to be with their people.
Patty was the Rescue Chairperson for the Tampa Bay Vizsla Club and the Florida Rescue contact for the VCA for 2006. During that year we fostered several dogs, however one dog became our "forever foster". He was a 10 year old, heartworm positive, intact male named Nero that was found in a kill shelter in central Florida. He was pulled from the shelter by a fellow club member because his time was up, and we reluctantly agreed to foster him, thinking we were just postponing the inevitable. Well - long story short - we fostered Nero thru his HW treatment, fell in love with the old guy and couldn't give him up. He now has an ILP number and competes in AKC hunt tests (his full name is "Hart's Imperial Imp JH") Nero earned his JH title last season, and is now busy training Geoff for Senior Hunter. |
